As you may have spotted if you flicked through a well known architectural weekly recently, the general public is getting the chance to vote on Barbie’s next career move – you will also know that one of them is as an architect.Last Updated on Monday, 04 January 2010 19:32, Written by Wilco (Administrator)
Design Circle has teamed up with SAWSA once again to bring you this year's lecture series at the Welsh School of architecture. With a range of speakers from now until the end of May, each lecture promises to set the design mind thinking.
Following each lecture, Design Circle would like to invite everyone to come over to Cardiff Arts Institute on Park Place, Cardiff, to join us for an informal drink with your colleagues in the profession.
As an added incentive, don't forget that your attendance at the lectures will also earn you CPD points, which regardless of the economy - at only £3 per lecture (£2 for students, free for SAWSA members) - is an absolute bargain!

A rare treat, acclaimed TV presenter, architect, writer and lecturer, George Clarke will be joining us for what may be the highlight of this year’s Lecture Series.
George Clarke set up practice early with co- partner Bobby Desai founding Clarke:Desai; a practice established with a firm grounding in the making of the home. Their portfolio includes a vast array of residential, cultural and international projects that seek toward transforming everyday life.
George’s passion to make architecture accessible and popular to the public may have lead him toward becoming one of the most successful current property TV presenters. The highly popular programs “How to Build a Life in the Country” and “The Home Show” seek to renovate the homes of everyday people and create places to live that respond specifically to the owner and their needs. His new show “Restoration Man” seeks to regenerate some of Britain’s most beautiful historic building into useable, liveable places that bring joy back into the art of living.
Please join us for what will undoubtedly be not only an engaging and entertaining lecture but one with a true depth and understanding of the making of the home and the ability that architecture can have on transforming the day to day life of its inhabitant.
..and if thats not enough to tempt you, wine and nibbles will follow in Cardiff Arts Institute!
Thursday 26 November 2009, 18:30; Birt Acres Lecture Theatre, Bute Building, King Edward VII Avenue, Cardiff, CF10 3NB
