SAWSA Lecture Series

Design Circle teams up with the Student Association of the Welsh School of Architecture (SAWSA) to bring you a range of exciting speakers.

In a bid to bring the architectural community in South Wales a wide variety of professionally relevant events, Design Circle is working together with the Student Association of the Welsh School of Architecture (SAWSA) to present a series of lectures that should stimulate and inform.

The series is part of a wider effort to support the society by providing a wider audience for society activities, as well as providing a potential additional source of guest speakers, funding and support. At the same time, students can contribute more directly to the South Wales architectural community. As part of this effort, the SAWSA chair, Edward Dyhouse, taken up position as a Design Circle committee member.

Dates of Lectures have been added to the diary (left). To download the pdf flyer right click and "save target as" .

Design Circle Formalised

After a series of informal meetings aimed at reforming the previously disbanded South Wales Branch of the RSAW, Design Circle is now formally the voice of Architects and Architecture in the South Wales Region.

In the presence of the RSAW Chair, a vote was held to formalise the re-instatement of the branch. Andrew Sutton was voted in to continue his role, albeit now on an official basis, as chair of the branch, together with Jonathon Jones as treasurer and Pierre Wassenaar as Secretary. The team will be completed by an enthusiastic committee, who have already made significant inroads to make Design Circle the network and voice of architects that South Wales deserves.

Extra-ordinary General Meeting

1 November 2007 - 6:30pm
Birt Acres Lecture Theatre, Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff

Through a series of launch events earlier this year, the local RSAW branch has been informally reformed with the aim of providing social and architectural activities to the architectural community in South Wales, along with promoting architecture in the area and lobbying on behalf of architects.

In order to make the organisation a recognised RSAW branch, an Extra-ordinary General Meeting is proposed, to vote in the positions of chair, treasurer and secretary.
