As in previous years, Design Circle are proud to support this year's SAWSA Lecture Series, kicking off this friday 9 October with a lecture by Irena Bauman, acclaimed author of "How to be a Happy Architect", and founding partner of vibrant, Leeds-based Bauman Lyons Architects.
Looking at the urban outline, the bridge between the city centre and suburb, is a particular theme which Bauman Lyons has tackled, focussing toward mixed use urban regeneration projects that relate directly to the user. A strong emphasis on cultural sustainability in their work is informed by her research into the distictiveness of the urban place, its source and value.
Such a pragmatic yet philosophical approach promises a very exciting and engaging lecture, examining both the dichotomy between practice and theory and the wider context of Architectural thinking.
Friday 9 October, 17:00hrs, Birt Acres Lecture Theatre, Bute Building, King Edward VII Avenue, Cardiff, CF10 3NB. Free entry for SAWSA members, £2 staff/ students, £3 everyone else.
We will shortly be publishing the complete list of SAWSA lectures, along with details of the new Design Circle Socials, which we will hope to run in conjunction with the series.
