Brief

Introduction

As a celebration of innovative practice and conceptual ideas, Design Circle RSAW South announces an exhibition and catalogue celebrating current architectural activities in Wales. Reflecting Wales will bring together architects, designers, artists and students whose work critically explores and challenges the built environment in Wales.

The exhibition will be launched in the Senedd in Cardiff from 24 October -2nd November 2008 to highlight the breadth and depth of innovative work in the built environment, and to reveal emerging architects, designers, artists and students whose work critically explores the built environment in Wales. A key event in the Cardiff Design Festival, the exhibition intends to conclude with a published catalogue of selected works.

We invite architects, designers, artists, and students who are based in Wales or are proposing innovative work in Wales- conceptual or built - to submit entries for the exhibition.

Proposed themes include (but are not limited to):

  • Research - Theoretical works which question and challenge the built environment.
  • Fabrications - Constructed works which pursue innovation in the built environment; models, installations, structures, mock-ups, materials testing, and prototypes.
  • Projects - Architectural works, conceptual or built, which propose innovation or critically contribute to the built environment.
  • Events - Performances, observations, processions and events which propose relationships with the built environment.
