This artist and designer collaboration reflects upon the ways in which language influences and informs the design process and its outcomes.
If we consider that design, as an extension of ourselves is ‘constituted in language’, how can we encourage within the design process a coherency between the languages of inherited pasts and the languages of inherent futures? How can we reconcile the professional languages that come with specialist training with a more joined-up way of reasoning and understanding the possibilities of design?
Our proposal focuses on a planning and design meeting where different participants involved in this process bring to the table a range of languages (i.e. professional. local, cultural). These bind together to form the current Welsh design vernacular.
