The Welsh Assembly Government recently commissioned the study ‘the display of art in Wales’ which identified a need for an NCAA. This has already stimulated vigorous debate as to the preferred location (everybody wants it!). The concept aims to leverage both resources and capabilities of the nations’ existing arts institutions and its natural and built heritage.
The mobility capabilities of the Welsh National Opera and the National Eisteffod inspired the notion of an arts depository and logistics centre ‘somewhere in mid-Wales’ which serves as the nerve centre for staging peripatic exhibitions co-located with existing cultural attractions. This greatly increases access to art for the people of Wales.
