For a primary school to be able to fulfil the uncertain future demands of education in a sustainable manner, flexibility, adaptability and careful design choices will be essential.
To accommodate this change the Chameleon School seeks to be flexible in the short and long term: adaptable to suit new uses; and ultimately, when its use is expended, leave as little environmental impact on the Earth as possible.
A prefabricated, modular kit has been opted for, affording speed, quality and simplicity of construction, erection and demounting; minimal waste; economies of scale. This also permits a variety of modular lengths of building, allowing each school to be tailored to individual spatial requirements and future alterations.
